Magna Does It Again

The festival committee had quite a task in choosing the winning design for the 2009 Audience Award from several excellent candidates. They were created by 2nd year apprentices working at Magna International Inc., the sponsor of the award for the second time around.

Again this year, the winner will be the film with the highest proportion of its audience giving it the thumbs up by placing their admission ticket to the ballot box at the end of the screening. This gives each film an equal chance to impress the viewers.

The name of winner will be posted as soon as results are in from the very last screening of the festival.    
 

      


Eh!U Meet the Europeans - European Film Festival

The very first recipient of the Eh!U Meet the Europeans - European Film Festival Audience Award was KATYN in 2008. The film is directed by Polish Andrzej Wajda.

The award was presented at the closing reception to Consul Andrzej KręŜel of the Consulate General of Poland in Toronto.  “It is an honour and privilege for me to express the words of gratefulness and appreciation”, he said in his acceptance speech. “We are very proud that Katyn is the European Film Festival Magna Audience Award winner. The film touches upon very important historical facts which are particularly significant for Mr. Andrzej Wajda, the director of the film, who lost his father in Katyń. On belhalf of Mr. Andrzej Wajda we thank cordially the Audience of the Festival and hope to see you next year."
